CURIS System Authorized for Sale by Government of Canada For Hard-Surface Disinfecting System that Fights SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
Along with the Government of Canada’s issuance of an “urgent need for health products that can help limit the spread of microorganisms, including viruses that cause SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19),” it announced inclusion of CURIS System’s proprietary CURoxide™ Hydrogen Peroxide blend and fogging system in its list of hard-surface disinfectants that are now authorized for sale in Canada to be used in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). CURoxide has demonstrated efficacy to be 99.9999% effective in killing C. diff in a tri-part soil load.
This interim approval came as a result of Health Canada introducing innovative and agile regulatory measures to increase supply and ensure Canadians and health care workers have access to hand sanitizers, disinfectants and personal protective equipment to address product shortages. Among other measures, Health Canada publishes an up-to-date list of disinfectants with evidence for use against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), in which it has included CURIS’ CURoxide.
CURIS’ CURoxide™ Hydrogen Peroxide blend and fogging system is also the only pulse fogging system on the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s List-N for efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). CURoxide has been used for more than seven years as a tool to help the world of infection control in commercial settings, including currently in use by the National Guard to decontaminate ambulances, police stations, daycare facilities and more; by public transportation systems, including Portland’s TriMet to disinfect buses every evening after service; in public school systems, including Seminole County, Florida, to disinfect classrooms and other public spaces; by municipal fire departments, such as Miami Fire EMS for their fire trucks; the Georgia Department of Emergency Preparedness; and many more.
“Too many products on the market today make unsubstantiated claims that result in ineffective or improper decontamination against the virus but also can potentially harm the materials and surfaces they are used on, as well as prove toxic to the people administering the chemicals,” said Frances Grinstead, CEO of CURIS System. “Having already gone through the rigorous testing and application process with the EPA, CURIS is now authorized for sale by Health Canada. CURIS can give customers the peace of mind that the safety of its product, its delivery mechanism, and its effectiveness in fighting SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and other disease is unmatched in the industry.”
While most systems rely on dispensing chemicals and turning off once the desired time is achieved or depend on manual spraying, CURIS goes a step further by focusing on a pulse™ zone to help maintain optimum dwell. Its system is designed to reduce human error with a hands-free system for remote operation that allows the operator to monitor, manage, measure, track, and report, including the ability to quickly prove, and continuously improve, decontamination efforts. Traditional cleaning methods, even others approved for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), often miss surface areas, and many disinfectants that kill 99.9% of germs can leave up to 1,000 harmful organisms behind on surfaces. This was once considered acceptable but not any longer with the onset of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Other commercial solutions on the market today have been proven to leave behind dangerous, toxic residues that collect grime and cause corrosion to surfaces, materials, electronics and more. Many of these chemical residues have been linked to neurotoxicity, allergies, and anti-microbial resistance in humans.
The CURIS Disinfection System was designed and is manufactured in the U.S.A. to effectively work in such environments as:
- Transportation systems, including buses, airplanes, subways, taxis
- Emergency Response Operations, including fire stations, police stations
- Schools
- Medical facilities, including hospitals, assisted living/long-term care facilities
- Laboratory spaces
- Sports facilities and gyms
- Military facilities
“The ability to not only disinfect a space thoroughly and effectively and prove and continually improve those efforts through our proprietary cloud-based reporting system, brings companies and the public the reassurance and peace of mind they deserve in these uncertain times,” added Grinstead.
