CURIS System Completes Large-Scale Emergency Biodecontamination Ahead of Northeast Blizzard
CURIS System successfully completed a large-scale emergency biodecontamination service at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Northeast after an undetected leak allowed thousands of gallons of water to infiltrate the site.
The facility identified the issue late in the week, with a significant winter storm forecasted to impact the region within days. Rapid response was critical to prevent extended downtime and protect restart timelines.
CURIS was notified on Friday. With insufficient time to ship equipment to the site before worsening weather conditions, members of the CURIS biodecontamination service team mobilized immediately, packing equipment and driving 18 hours to the Northeast to support the customer’s urgent needs.
The project required comprehensive, large-scale treatment following water intrusion across multiple areas of the facility. The biodecontamination was completed before blizzard conditions began on Monday, allowing the manufacturer to proceed with recovery efforts without weather-related delays.
“Emergency response is about preparation and execution,” said Benjamin Flyr, Service Director at CURIS System. “When our partners face unplanned events, our priority is protecting their restart timeline and minimizing operational disruption.”
The CURIS service team has supported multiple emergency biodecontamination projects in recent months and continues to assist pharmaceutical manufacturers nationwide with planned shutdowns and unplanned contamination events.
CURIS System provides professional biodecontamination services for pharmaceutical manufacturing, cleanroom environments, laboratories, and high-containment facilities. Services include emergency response, large-scale facility treatment, and coordinated support aligned with cGMP requirements.
